WriteMate ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you rewrite English text using AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we handle and how.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any profile data.
• We do not track browsing history or page content beyond the text you explicitly select.

2. How Your Data Is Used

• Selected text: When you trigger a rewrite, the text you highlighted is sent to our server for AI processing. The result is returned to you immediately. We do not store, log, or retain your text.
• License key: Your activation key is stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage and is used only to verify your subscription status. It is never transmitted beyond our own verification endpoint.
• Daily usage count: A local counter tracks your daily free-tier usage. This data stays on your device and is never shared.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer any of your information to third parties. No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are included in the extension.

4. Third-Party Services

WriteMate uses the following third-party services solely to provide its core functionality:

• Anthropic API: Selected text is transmitted to Anthropic's API for AI-powered rewriting. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.
• Paddle: Payment processing for paid subscriptions is handled by Paddle.com. Paddle's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.

We do not share any additional user data with these services beyond what is necessary to deliver the extension's functionality.

5. Data Security

All communication between the extension and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. We do not maintain databases of user text or behavior.

6. Children's Privacy

WriteMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
